My Game Plan Is Simple: To Help You Raise Your Athlete.
As a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist and Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, I’ve spent the past 20+ years studying the athlete growth process, honing in on the skills and traits it takes to develop high performing, well balanced, and happy athletes.
But, this has a long road – decades in the making…
I grew up like many boys do – playing sports with my dad. From street sports to soccer to football to track & field – I was immersed in sports early on and often! It is through my father that I first saw the power of commitment. As my coach, he would tirelessly study the mechanics, the techniques, the strategies, and whatever it took for him to master the sport so he could teach me how to become better. And, though we tried a lot of things that worked well, we also spent precious time doing things that didn’t.
I went on to play multiple sports through high school, until a devastating knee injury during football practice sidelined me. But, I was determined to not let that be the end of my sports career. I was on the road to competing as a decathlete in college, but my knee had other plans. It was then that I came to the hard realization that my Sports Experience Window was coming to an end. The abrupt transition from competitive track, where I practiced multiple times a day, every day to seemingly doing nothing was very difficult to make.
What this all means for you is…
I know the time, the attention, and the investment it takes to reach a high level of competition. And, I also know that the time your child has to experience their sport is a very short window.
However, the lessons and the habits your child forms now can translate into high performance on the field and dedication and commitment off the field.
I’ve witnessed top athletes succumb to burnout and breakdown – and it wasn’t because they couldn’t keep up with the physical demands of the sport.
It was often because the focus wasn’t where it should be: on developing the whole athlete.
I created Kid to Athlete as the place for parents and student athletes to get the new playbook to develop aligned athletes who nurture their BIG4: physical, mental, emotional, and social wellbeing.
That’s why it’s my life’s mission to empower parents to maximize their child’s sports experience so they can develop next level athletes who can explode into their full potential in all areas of their lives.
